Thirty-four years after her steamy performance in “Basic Instinct” made her a sex symbol, Sharon Stone says she’s embraced celibacy. In a wide-ranging interview on Mayim Bialik’s “Breakdown” podcast this week, Stone revealed she hasn’t “been a girlfriend in a long time” after having had “no luck at all” in her recent romantic endeavors. “I’ve been celibate for quite a while now,” the Oscar nominee said, noting that she’s “at the point where I really only want to be with someone that I care for.”With her sons Roan, 26, Laird, 21, and Quinn, 20, grown up, Stone believes that her priorities in relationships have shifted. “I want someone that’s my companion, not just someone to have sex with,” she said. “I’m kind of bored with that. So I’m in the ‘no luck at all’ phase right now, but I think that that’s the phase you need to be willing to be in to have the thing that I really want.”Sharon Stone says she hasn’t “been a girlfriend in a long time” after having had “no luck at all” in her recent romantic endeavors. Previously, she was married to television and film producer Michael Greenburg from 1984 to 1987. In 2018, she was romantically linked in the media with Angelo Boffa, an Italian-Swiss actor-producer. The pair are believed to have split later that year. Elsewhere in her “Breakdown” chat, Stone said she doesn’t think she’s “had the great love of my life” yet, and recalled a conversation with a psychic who told her that she would eventually meet a life partner when she was “really quite a bit older, almost 70.” “Which is now,” the 68-year-old quipped. Stone is among a growing list of celebrities who have opened up about choosing a celibate lifestyle. In 2024, musician Lenny Kravitz revealed that he hadn’t had sex in nine years, while actor Julia Fox said the Supreme Court’s 2022 rollback of abortion rights had given her motivation to abstain. Appearing on Chelsea Handler’s “Dear Chelsea” podcast in February, former “Project Runway” mentor Tim Gunn shared that he’s been celibate for 43 years after splitting from an unfaithful ex in 1982.His lifestyle, he said, prepared him for the long period of self-isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020: “I’m probably one of the few people who really loved it.”Watch Sharon Stone’s “Breakdown” interview below.
