Sharon Stone detailed her grueling decision to stop taking stroke medication and cannabis in order to live completely substance free.

Hollywood icon Sharon Stone is making waves with her revelations about reclaiming her health.

In a candid conversation with "Variety", the "Basic Instinct" star detailed her grueling, self-directed journey toward a completely substance-free life, a decision that involved ditching her final stroke prescription against strict medical advice and kicking her cannabis habit.

More than two decades after surviving a life-threatening brain hemorrhage and stroke in 2001, Stone found herself ready to sever ties with the pharmaceuticals that had sustained her recovery. However, her medical team strongly cautioned against the move.

"You can't go off of it. You can never go off of it," her doctors warned, according to Stone.
