Staff of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) are currently protesting at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja over what they described as poor welfare, unpaid allowances and neglect by the management.

The protest, which is ongoing as of the time of filing this report, is being organised by the leadership of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), NASC chapter.

The protesters are demanding improved welfare and payment of outstanding allowances, while accusing the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Dr Saviour Enyiekere, and other commissioners of failing to prioritise the wellbeing of staff.

The protesters also alleged that some workers are currently struggling to pay their children’s September school fees because of financial difficulties.
