The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirmed that one of its officers was stabbed to death while on duty at the agency’s Toro Area Command in Bauchi State.

However, the anti-narcotics agency has denied declaring the suspect wanted, saying due process must be followed before any individual can be officially declared wanted.

Speaking with SaharaReporters on Thursday, NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, dismissed as fake a banner circulating online purporting to show that the agency had declared the suspect wanted over the killing of its officer.

Babafemi said the banner was not issued by the NDLEA, noting that the logos and other details displayed on it were not from the agency.

The spokesperson, however, confirmed that the incident involving the death of the NDLEA officer actually occurred.
