Airline major IndiGo will launch daily direct flights between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania from November 20, expanding its international network and connectivity to Africa.According to the airline, the service will make it the only Indian carrier to offer direct connectivity between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam. IndiGo said that the bookings are open through its website, mobile app and authorised travel partners.The new route will add to IndiGo’s existing direct services from India to Nairobi, Mauritius and Seychelles.Trade and tourismBesides, the airline expects the service to facilitate trade, investment, tourism and educational exchanges between India and East Africa.At present, India is among Tanzania’s largest trading partners, with engagement across sectors including manufacturing, agriculture and healthcare, the airline said.“The launch of direct daily flights between Mumbai and Dar es Salaam underscores our commitment to building stronger connections between India and fast-growing global markets,” said Aloke Singh, Chief Strategy Officer, IndiGo.“Tanzania is an important economic partner for India and a gateway to East Africa, with growing demand for travel driven by trade, investment, tourism and cultural ties.”Furthermore, Singh said the enhanced connectivity would facilitate greater mobility and deepen economic engagement between the two countries.Published on September 10, 2026
