Cape Town to test cashless payments at three driving licence centres

City of Cape Town pilots cashless transactions at three Driving Licence Testing Centres these are Brackenfell, Fish Hoek and Strand.

In a bid to enhance security, streamline operations, and accelerate digital transformation, the City of Cape Town will launch a cashless payment pilot across three of its Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTCs) starting October 1.

The transition to electronic payments will be tested at the Brackenfell, Fish Hoek, and Strand testing centres.

Currently, the City’s 18 DLTCs process thousands of monthly transactions using a mix of cash and card payments.

These services include traffic fine settlements, learner’s and driving licence applications, licence card renewals or replacements, and Public Driving Permit (PrDP) applications.
