Ripple Chief Technology Officer Emeritus David Schwartz said in an X Space Wednesday that XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) could one day overtake Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) in market cap if the XRP Ledger keeps gaining ground.
Schwartz said it would be possible, though not through Bitcoin shrinking but XRP growing faster than Bitcoin in a world where digital assets broadly succeed.
He pointed to the XRP Ledger’s higher speed, greater functionality, and ability to support features Bitcoin cannot as the factors that could help it capture a disproportionate share of that growth.
“I think that the world where that happens is the world where all the markets grow much, much larger,” Schwartz said.
