An Italian company has secured its second major Danube dredging job in Slovakia this year, prompting a fresh attack on Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba from one of his former political allies.
Venice-based Nautilus won a contract worth just under €70 million to remove sediment from the Hrušov reservoir, part of the Gabčíkovo waterworks in south-western Slovakia.
Taraba has presented the price as a success, saying the state had expected the work to cost about €140 million.
“We tendered a contractor for less than €70 million,” he told Markíza.
