The chain says that, in America, grocery totes have become unlikely fashion icons, with the humble canvas shopper gaining high-fashion status.Tote bags like those from US retailers like Trader Joe's and Erewhon have 'fully evolved from utilitarian shopping tools into cultural and fashion status symbols'. The new Lidl Tote is the latest fashion item launched by the supermarket. Its £50 Croissant Bag, created with Nik Bentel, sold out within minutes in 2024 and later appeared on resale websites for over £500, before the pair reunited at London Fashion Week again with the sell-out Trolley Bag.This time, the tote bag is available for free, and is designed to be 'practical and playful'. Complete with a spacious interior and two side pockets, it’s designed for picking up weekend essentials, heading to work, or 'adding a little extra to an everyday look'.Lidl is also giving shoppers the chance to make their tote their own. All shoppers will receive a limited-edition pack of badges, keyrings and pins, for adding a personal touch to the bag.The accessories include a Freeway Cola keyring, an enamel pin inspired by the All Butter Croissant, and iron-on patches like the Parkside Drill.Article continues belowJoanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB said: "We’ve always seen a phenomenal response to our branded bag drops, with shoppers turning everyday accessories into iconic style staples.
