The Spice Girls are hopping mad after the band teased huge news for their 30th anniversary14:14, 10 Sep 2026Updated 14:15, 10 Sep 2026The Spice Girls' plans to celebrate their 30th anniversary have now been confirmed – and fans hoping for a reunion have been left bitterly disappointed. On Wednesday, the group whipped fans of Girl Power into a frenzy by taking to social media to hint at plans for a huge milestone.‌A video shared across the band's official channels opened with the iconic staircase at the St Pancras Hotel in London, where the group shot the music video for their debut single, Wannabe. The camera then focused on a newspaper advert asking: "R u a Spice Girls fan with the ability to sing and dance?"‌Fans were convinced they would soon hear of the chance to see the band in action once again after years of rumours.‌Instead, the announcement revealed the release of special vinyls and CD box sets. A brand new set comprised of 14 individually coloured 7" vinyl records of original singles and their B-sides, as well as original artwork, will soon be available to buy.Bonus discs include Step To Me and Tell Me Why, as well as two unreleased demos of Do You Think About Me, one of the Spice Girls' earliest recordings taken from their archive. Also included are five collectable art cards and a 28-page booklet featuring messages from all five band members.‌Reacting to the news, one fan said: "Rule No. 1 of a Spice Girls announcement/countdown: It's always anniversary merch. Don't get too excited." A second penned: "This is not what the fans wanted." "More plastic," fumed another. A fourth disgruntled fan typed: "I know y'all fenna riot. Rightfully so." "Major disappointment, we wanted a concert with the 5 of you," said another.The chart-mauling group, who shot to fame with Wannabe, followed by Say You'll Be There, haven't performed publicly since 2019. As a four-piece, Melanie Brown MBE, Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner embarked on a stadium tour of the UK and Ireland. Victoria Beckham ruled out joining forces with her bandmates for the tour, citing business matters.‌She last performed with the group at the London 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony, taking to the stage to sing a medley of some of their biggest hits. The group were due to perform at the late Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, but Mel B previously revealed that they had to pull out of the ceremony.Despite Victoria previously ruling out touring, she has recently hinted that she would take to the stage with her bandmates – but only as part of a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Mel B, however, has spoken openly about her desire to reunite the band.‌"I do think we should be doing something. Whether that actually happens or not is another story, but we're all talking about it because, if not anything, just for our fans," she said of celebrating the 30th anniversary.She added: "They've been so loyal, and they're just there all the time – even now, 30 years on. For that, we should be doing something, but I can't say what that is right now, because nothing has been confirmed or signed off on."Melanie C also said in a separate interview: "We want to do something – who knows when.
