Prince William will join a host of prominent British sporting figures Thursday to launch a new initiative aimed at encouraging the sports sector to do more to help prevent suicide.
The heir to the British throne will be joined by Olympic gold medalists Kelly Holmes, Jason Kenny and Laura Kenny, as well as former England footballer Jill Scott, at Everton’s stadium.
The event coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day.
Mental health and suicide prevention have become key areas of William’s public campaigning. Last October, he fought back tears while discussing the devastating impact of suicide with a woman whose husband had taken his own life.
“On Your Side,” produced by the Royal Foundation, the charitable organization of William and his wife, Kate, aims to help people in sporting environments spot warning signs and provide support to individuals before they reach a crisis point.
