Xanadu and AMD announced Backline, an open-source platform built with PennyLane for low-latency communication between quantum processors and classical computing hardware.

Backline reports end-to-end classical-quantum loop times below three microseconds and supports CPUs, GPUs and FPGAs for applications including quantum error correction, network processing and sensing.

The platform is designed to give developers hardware control through PennyLane’s Python interface while reducing reliance on proprietary classical hardware and vendor-specific frameworks.
