Youth leaders from around the world are pushing for greater participation in policymaking, with more than 50 delegates from over 45 countries adopting a declaration focused on decent work, economic opportunity, education, climate action and inclusion.
The Porto Youth Declaration was signed at the Global Youth Impact Summit 2026, which ended in Porto-Gaia, Portugal, on September 6, 2026 after bringing together young leaders, diplomats, entrepreneurs, innovators and civil society representatives from across five continents.
The four-day summit, organised by the Council for Global Affairs & Development (CGAD), attracted delegates from more than 10 African countries, alongside participants from Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.

The declaration, described as the principal outcome of the summit, commits signatories to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on climate action, education, economic opportunity, gender equality, inclusion and peace-building.
