More than 10,000 young people from across Africa are expected to converge in Lagos on Saturday for the 2026 Ambassadors National Youth Summit, where government representatives, policymakers, business leaders and emerging leaders will discuss Nigeria’s economic future and the role of young people in shaping it.
The summit, organised by the Joshua Oyeniyi International Foundation, is scheduled to be held on August 29 at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, with the theme, “Role of Emerging Leaders in Securing Nigeria’s Economic Prosperity.”
The summit is being convened by the founder and President of the JOI Foundation, Dr Joshua Oyeniyi, with industrialist and philanthropist Kesington Adebutu, popularly known as Baba Ijebu, expected to attend in support of the foundation’s efforts to bring together young Africans and influential stakeholders.
The organisers said the gathering would provide a platform for young people to engage directly with policymakers and established leaders on issues spanning the economy, security, leadership, innovation and youth participation in national development.
In a statement obtained by The PUNCH, organisers said the summit was conceived to address the disconnect between young people and the institutions responsible for shaping the economic and political direction of their countries.
