New delhi: India's first listed private equity asset manager Gaja Alternative Asset Management has reported a 35% increase in profit after tax to Rs. 27.2 crore for the quarter ended June of the current financial year, as per a stock exchange disclosure.Its first quarter financial year 2026-27 earnings were reported post the company’s listing on stock exchanges.The alternative asset manager’s reported income of Rs. 51.8 crore for the quarter ended June of financial year 2026-27, was higher by 26% year-on-year.Gaja Alternative Asset management reports three income streams. They include management fee income, management performance income and treasury income.Alternative asset managers charge investors in their funds a management performance fee. This is in addition to the fund management fee.The management performance fee includes a share of profits that will accrue to the fund management company from gains made on investments by the funds it has seeded. It also includes sponsor gains, which is the increase in value of the seed capital that the fund manager had deployed in various funds.Gaja Alternative Asset Management manages four funds with Rs. 3,200 crore of committed capital.It recently got approval from securities and exchange board of India to launch a fifth fund for which its target corpus is Rs. 2,500 crore. Like the previous funds this will also raise seed capital from Gaja Alternative Asset Managers. The company is likely to provide Rs. 210 crore of sponsor commitments to the fifth fund.The company has engaged the audit arm of PwC as its new auditors after the previous auditors’ term expired.The company’s net worth is Rs. 634 crore.Gaja Alternative Asset Management had raised Rs. 550 crore from its initial public offering. This included a fresh issue of shares worth Rs. 450 crore.
