ANC KwaZulu-Natal official James Nxumalo says there are technical glitches affecting candidate lists in several municipalities, with candidates incorrectly captured against wards in the eThekwini and Ray Nkonyeni municipalities ahead of the November local government elections.
The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has confirmed candidate-list glitches affecting more municipalities in the province ahead of the November 4 local government elections, including eThekwini and Ray Nkonyeni.
Speaking at a media briefing on Thursday, provincial task team co-ordinator James Nxumalo said the problems involved technical errors during the capturing and loading of candidate lists, with a small number of candidates reflected against incorrect wards.
The ANC said its candidate selection processes had been completed across all 921 wards in KwaZulu-Natal, and that the errors did not arise from the branch and community processes used to identify candidates.
The party said it had finalised and lodged its lists with the Electoral Commission of South Africa within the prescribed deadline.
