A trial over the handling of video footage linked to the deadly 2023 rail crash in Tempe, central Greece, has been rescheduled for November 6, nearly five months after proceedings were suspended.
The case will restart at the Larissa Misdemeanor Court and centers on video footage of the freight train involved in the head-on collision with a passenger train.
The trial concerns the actions of two former senior officials of railway operator OSE and a representative of Interstar Security, the company responsible for security and video surveillance of the rail network.
The charges relate to the alleged failure to provide investigators with footage showing the freight train being loaded at Thessaloniki and the subsequent overwriting of data on a digital hard drive in the months after the crash. Prosecutors say this made it impossible to fully recover the footage when it was eventually handed over to the investigating judge in summer 2023.
According to the indictment, the alleged actions hindered efforts to establish what kind of cargo the freight train was carrying.
