Alongside Beefeater, sister chains Brewers Fayre and Bar + Block are also being axed as the hospitality giant shifts its focus exclusively to its hotel operations.‌Whitbread boss Dominic Paul placed responsibility firmly on crippling cost pressures stemming from Government policy. In particular, recent increases in employer National Insurance contributions and business rates have rendered the traditional pub-restaurant business model 'unsustainable'.‌Whitbread will now concentrate its resources entirely on its highly lucrative Premier Inn hotel business.The shutdowns form part of a major £250 million restructuring plan, with approximately 600 new Premier Inn rooms due to be constructed within repurposed restaurant locations.‌Multiple former Beefeater premises will be transformed into smaller, integrated kitchens catering exclusively to hotel guests, and will no longer operate as public houses or walk-in dining establishments.Any locations that don't meet the firm's hotel profitability targets will be sold off or leased back as operational businesses. We'd go for various family birthdays. I absolutely loved it."A steak or a mixed grill which I never got at home, followed by a Knickerbocker Glory. Fantastic times. I went back a couple of years ago.
