Patrick Clancy’s lawyer has warned social media users against spreading unsubstantiated allegations linking him to the deaths of his three children, saying further defamatory claims could trigger civil litigation.
Attorney Howard Cooper issued the warning as online speculation intensified following the mistrial in the case involving Clancy’s former wife, Lindsay Clancy.
“Enough is enough, this spread of blatant and baseless falsehoods must stop,” Cooper said in a public statement cited by US media.
He said law enforcement officials had been alerted to the alleged harassment and potential threats targeting Patrick Clancy, while warning that those continuing to spread false claims could face legal action.
