KARACHI: Chinese car-maker BYD’s purpose-built new energy vehicle (NEV) assembly factory in Gharo is expected to come online in the last quarter of 2026.

According to the company, the plant was scheduled to come online in the second half of 2026.

The project has been built in under 18 months and represents one of the fastest automotive manufacturing developments of its scale in Pakistan, the car-maker said in a statement. According to the company, a thorough process of equipment validation, production trials and quality testing is required to ensure it meets global standards before production can commence.
