What will Kenya lose if Tata Chemicals Magadi is closed?

I have been quiet, observing the Tata Chemicals Magadi story unfold.

But recent events have reminded me of the late Wangari Maathai’s powerful Hummingbird Story — the tale of a tiny bird that, despite the enormity of a forest fire, decided to do its part. That story motivates me to raise my voice, particularly because I have spent a significant part of my career immersed in the soda ash and glass industries.

I worked for Tata Chemicals Magadi Limited (TCML) for 14 years, starting as Marketing Development Manager and eventually becoming Head of International Sales. I also served as Chair of Magadi Sacco Society Ltd and as a board member for more than 12 years.
