A global icon of midcentury architecture, John Lautner is renowned for creating some of the most innovative and flamboyant residences in Los Angeles. His visionary portfolio includes the spaceship-like Chemosphere in Hollywood Hills, the Wolff Residence perched atop the Sunset Strip, and the legendary Sheats-Goldstein Residence, which cantilevers over a steep hillside above Beverly Hills.
Having studied in the 1930s under Frank Lloyd Wright, Lautner beautifully channeled his mentor’s influence into one of his lesser-known early commissions: a curving ranch-style home in Pasadena, 11 miles northeast of downtown L.A. It is the only Lautner-designed residence in the leafy suburb.
