The British government announced that, as part of expanded sanctions against the Islamic Republic, Iranian cargo aircraft will be banned from landing in the United Kingdom, except under extraordinary circumstances.
According to an official UK government notice, the new regulations target Iran’s financial, commercial, technology, energy, maritime transport, and aviation sectors. The measures are scheduled to take effect on September 29.
Contrary to initial reports, the ban does not cover all Iranian aircraft; the official text specifies that it applies strictly to Iranian cargo flights. The implementation of these regulations remains subject to approval by the British Parliament.
The new restrictions prohibit the provision of loans, credit, investments, and insurance to individuals and entities associated with Iran, severely curtailing their access to UK banking services and financial markets.
Trade sanctions encompass goods and technologies related to energy, crude oil and petroleum products, natural gas, petrochemical industries, maritime equipment, gold, precious metals, diamonds, and selected industrial software.
