The Game season two is almost over but Channel 5 has already confirmed what will be taking its place next week.Hayley Anderson Screen Time TV Reporter12:44, 09 Sep 2026The Game season two concludes tonight as Huw hunts down Patrick as he delivers his “final, cruel masterstroke”.‌Channel 5 psychological drama The Game returned for a second series at the end of last month, one year after Patrick Harbottle (played by Robson Green) brutally stabbed Huw Miller (Jason Watkins).‌Huw and his family were hoping for a fresh start but Patrick wasn’t willing to let this happen, kicking off a new game of cat and mouse from behind bars.‌Their ongoing rivalry is set to reach its next almighty climax tonight, Wednesday, September 9, as The Game series two comes to an end.Ahead of its finale airing at 9pm, Channel 5 has already confirmed that a best-selling novel adaptation will be taking its place.‌Forever Home is a six-part psychological drama that is set to debut on Monday, September 14, at 9pm, airing the first of three episodes, with the next two released on Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16.Fans can then expect the final three episodes to be shown the following week, once again over three consecutive nights, starting on Monday, September 21.The upcoming gripping series revolves around Carol Crottie (played by Amy Nuttall) who worries when her older partner Robert’s (Douglas Henshall) dementia worsens.‌She begins to wonder if his desperation not to leave his house has anything to do with the whereabouts of his first wife Joan who ran off with his brother 20 years prior.The official synopsis continues: “When Robert’s anxiety about the house’s hidden basement grows, Carol’s curiosity is piqued as she and her mother investigate the whereabouts of Robert’s first wife, Joan.“But the secrets Robert has kept will take a long time to untangle.”‌Forever Home may already be familiar to avid book readers as it’s based on TV personality and presenter Graham Norton’s 2022 novel of the same name.But what makes the series stand out even more is its cast which is led by actress Amy Nuttall as Carol Crottie.‌She is best known for playing Chloe Atkinson in Emmerdale and Ethel Parks in Downton Abbey.She is far from the only recognisable star though as Nuttall is joined by none other than Shetland and Primeval legend Douglas Henshall as her husband Robert Crottie.Meanwhile, other major stars joining the cast include Loose Women and Coronation Street icon Denise Welch, as well as Strictly Come Dancing and Emmerdale star Lewis Cope.Article continues belowThe Game is available to watch on Channel 5 and 5
