Jacob Coxon, a researcher at Anthropic, announced his resignation from the company on Tuesday, warning that AI labs are driving toward self-improving systems that could spiral out of human control. "They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives," Coxon wrote in a post on X $TWTR. He said neither Anthropic nor OpenAI is acting responsibly.
Self-improvement is the concept that AI systems can advance on their own, without meaningful human direction. That capability remains out of reach for now, though AI labs are actively pursuing it.
