The Government is moving to consolidate academic records from recognised institutions into a single national database to make it harder for people with forged qualifications to secure jobs.
The National Qualifications Database will give employers a central platform to verify academic credentials, with the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) aiming to connect all universities to the system by the end of the year.
So far, only 22 percent of the universities have been onboarded, as the government seeks to replace the lengthy process of verifying academic records across different institutions and agencies.
