A man has appeared in court accused of killing two cyclists and injuring a third when a car crashed into a group.Aaron Turner, 22, has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a road accident, and drug possession after the crash near Gravesend, Kent Police said. Emergency services were called to the scene, near Cobham in Kent, on Sunday after a white Ford Focus allegedly 'lost control' and ploughed into the group of bike riders shortly at around 7.47am while heading towards Meopham.Stephen Anscombe, 60, and Natasha Lewis, 51, both died of 'traumatic and catastrophic' injuries at the scene, the force confirmed this afternoon. Another cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment on 'minor' injuries.A 21-year-old man and 19-year old-woman were released on bail while enquiries continue after being arrested last week. Turner has been has been granted bail after appearing at Medway Magistrates' Court on Wednesday via video link. A statement released by Kent Police on Sunday said: 'Officers investigating a double fatal collision in Cobham near Gravesend have charged a man. Emergency services rushed Sole Street, pictured, in Cobham, Kent, last week after three cyclists were hit by a Ford Focus'At 7.47am on Sunday 6 September 2026, a white Ford Focus was travelling in a south westerly direction along Sole Street towards Meopham, when it was involved in a collision with three cyclists.'Emergency services attended the scene near the junction with Round Street where two of the riders, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s, were confirmed to be deceased. 'Their next of kin have been informed. The third cyclist was taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries described as minor.'Two men and a woman were subsequently arrested.'
