For pedestrians and cyclists in Vilnius, such obstacles can turn a routine trip through the city into a hazard – despite a system of designated parking areas introduced to bring order to the growing popularity of electric micro-mobility.
Complaints about improperly parked scooters and bikes have resurfaced in recent weeks, prompting the city and rental companies to review how the system is working.
A few weeks ago, Karolis, a Vilnius resident, told LRT.lt he encountered several improperly parked electric vehicles while cycling through the city at night.
One rental scooter had been left across a bike path. The area was poorly lit, he said, and he nearly hit it and fell.
