Samoa and New Caledonia kicked off their OFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2026 campaign in Group B with victories at the Solomon Islands National Stadium in Honiara on the 7th of September 2026.
Samoa began their quest for a third consecutive FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup berth with a 2-1 win over Polynesian rivals Tonga.
Finalists in the previous two tournament editions, Samoa secured all three points courtesy of a rapid first-half double from Taimane Devoux.
She had opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a precise strike into the bottom-left corner from the edge of the box.
