Samoa’s Under-16 men’s national team secured its first point of the OFC U-16 Men’s Championship after a 1-1 draw against New Caledonia on Friday.

After opening the tournament with defeats to Papua New Guinea and Fiji, Samoa showed resilience to fight back and earn a result in its final Group A match.

Te Koha Gabriel Schick scored Samoa’s first goal of the tournament, describing the moment as surreal.

“I thought I wasn’t going to score it first until the keeper rebounded it off,” Schick said after the match.

“I was very excited and happy with the result.”
