The National Open University of Nigeria has appointed Ramatu Ibrahim as Acting Bursar following the killing of the university’s Bursar, Nasir Marafa.
The appointment comes during the three-day mourning period declared by the university for Marafa, which commenced on Monday and will end on Wednesday.
Marafa was reportedly shot dead in Zamfara State, with the university Registrar, Oladipo Ajayi, announcing his death on Sunday.
Ibrahim’s appointment was announced by the Registrar in a public notice posted on the university’s Facebook page on Tuesday evening.
According to Ajayi, the appointment, which takes effect immediately, was aimed at “ensuring continuity, stability and effective leadership in the university’s financial administration at a critical period.”
