The Nigeria Democratic Congress has received more than 1,000 defection letters from members of the All Progressives Congress across the Delta North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The figure was disclosed by the former Convener of the Delta Coalition for Equity, Chief Alex Ikpeazu, who led the defectors into the NDC during a formal reception in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, on Monday.
Ikpeazu said the group had received more than 1,000 letters from APC members indicating their intention to leave the party and join the NDC.
He said the development reflected growing dissatisfaction among some APC members and political stakeholders in Delta North, particularly over what he described as years of marginalisation, deprivation and neglect of the senatorial district.
“We have received over 1,000 defection letters from people who want to join the NDC,” Ikpeazu said.
