Depreciation is often the single largest expense a driver faces in the first five years of ownership, and Kelley Blue Book's 24th annual Best Resale Value Awards found the average 2026 model-year vehicle retains only 45% of its original value after that period, meaning a $50,000 vehicle falls to roughly $22,500.
The 10 vehicles below all beat that average by a wide margin, retaining between 53.4% and 63% of their value, and names with a longtime reputation for holding value, the Honda $HMC Civic and Toyota $TM Camry among them, didn't crack the overall top 10 this year despite their broader consumer reputation for reliability.
