The Argentine government announced sanctions against 15 additional parties involved in operations around the Malvinas, the islands in the South Atlantic under British control but which Argentina considers part of its territory.
The announcementc come is in addition to proceedings already initiated against another 45 parties and applies to both individuals and legal entities involved in what the government considers the unlawful development of hydrocarbon activities on the country’s “continental shelf.”
According to the statement, Argentina will “not tolerate violations of its sovereignty” over the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, and the corresponding maritime and island areas.
“[These areas] belong to all Argentines, and no one may exploit their resources without the authorization of our country.”
