Sir Tom Jones was recently axed from his long-serving role as a coach on The Voice and how his former co-star Olly Murs has sent his support to the music legend19:15, 08 Sep 2026Olly Murs has sent his support to Sir Tom Jones after he was axed from The Voice. The former X Factor star, 42, served on the ITV1 talent show for a number of years himself before departing just over three years ago.‌Earlier this week, it emerged that music legend Tom, 86, had also just been axed more than a decade after he first joined the panel, and the Delilah singer made it clear that he did not want to leave.‌Now Olly, best known for hits like Troublemaker and Dance With Me Tonight, has had his say after his former co-star posted a statement onto Instagram. Writing in the comments section of the post, Olly simply said: "Love ya TJ."‌In his post, Tom said he was 'not thrilled' by what ITV have offered him. He wrote: "To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice as I love the show and really appreciate the audience. "ITV made this decision - obviously a while ago, and I was just told recently."The reason given is because of a financial difficulty with insurance. They now say in the press they want to 'refresh' the show, and a new coaching line-up there wouldn't be a chair for me.‌"They are offering a much-reduced role where I would make an appearance but without being actually involved from the start, and I'm not thrilled about that. So the only thing I know right now is that there's never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who's still pretty good at his job."A spokesperson for The Voice told the Mirror: "We have loved working with Sir Tom Jones over the past nine years on The Voice UK. While he will no longer be a full-time coach on series 15, we continue to talk to Sir Tom and his team about his involvement in the next series."‌When Olly found out he would be leaving The Voice, he said said his team were told by ITV bosses the show was "looking at new people" for the coaching role at the time.He said: "I’m gutted. I got the call last week to say I won’t be back on the show, and it’s a bit of a shock, to be honest." He admitted he didn't expect the news and doesn't want people to think it was his decision to leave. At the time, told he The Sun: “Did I want to leave? No. Will I still watch the show? Of course, but it’ll be sore thinking that could have been me . . .” His axing came at the same time as that of fellow coach Anne-Marie, and they were replaced by McFly stars Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.Article continues belowThe series that is currently on air has been pre-recorded and, alongside Sir Tom, as well as the McFly boys, features Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland as a coach as a replacement for LeAnn Rimes,* Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
