The invoice. Canada’s C$27.6 billion (about US$19.9 billion) in counter-tariffs on roughly 700 American products took effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, with rates of 15, 25 and 50 per cent exactly as Ottawa scheduled on August 22.
The threat. President Trump posted on Truth Social Monday afternoon that there will be “NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES” unless the Montreal planemaker builds aircraft domestically, and Bombardier shares fell 6.4 per cent within hours.
