The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Tuesday demanded the resignation of HRD Minister Nara Lokesh and sought a CBI inquiry into what it described as alleged irregularities in the DSC-2025 teacher recruitment process.Addressing separate press conferences, YSRCP official spokesperson Konda Rajiv Gandhi and former MP Margani Bharath said the recruitment process warranted an independent investigation. They said Mr. Lokesh should step down to ensure that the allegations were investigated without any possibility of political influence.The leaders alleged that complaints had been received about the purported use of fake BC and sports-quota certificates by some candidates. They also claimed that, in some instances, more than one member of a family had secured appointments on the basis of participation certificates. They called for the relevant documents and records to be examined by an independent agency to establish the veracity of the allegations.Describing the Mega DSC as a “job mela”, the YSRCP leaders alleged that some teacher posts might have been obtained through improper means. They claimed that material supporting their allegations was available and urged the government to subject the recruitment records to comprehensive scrutiny.The leaders also alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was attempting to shield Mr. Lokesh from criticism. In this context, they referred to former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s reported position on seeking a CBI probe when allegations were made against Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.The YSRCP leaders further alleged that cases were being registered against social media activists, unemployed youth and journalists who had raised questions about the DSC process. They questioned whether similar scrutiny was being applied to allegations concerning candidates who may have submitted invalid or forged documents.They also questioned the appointments of candidates who, they alleged, had not cleared the mandatory Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), and sought clarification from the government on the applicable recruitment rules and the basis for such appointments.The YSRCP leaders maintained that a Vigilance inquiry would not be adequate and demanded a CBI investigation into the allegations, including the authenticity of certificates, eligibility of candidates and the procedure followed in making appointments. They said an independent probe should establish whether any irregularities had occurred, identify those responsible if wrongdoing was established and determine whether any appointments were affected.
