The Telangana Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force, in coordination with Bhurgampadu police, busted an inter-State ganja transportation network and arrested two persons while seizing 20 kg of dry ganja worth an estimated ₹10 lakh in Sarapaka village of Bhadradri Kothagudem district. During preliminary investigation, police found that the accused, identified as Naveen Kumar, 27, of Yadgir district, Karnataka, and Vijay Kumar, 32, of Tumkur district, are friends and had travelled to Odisha to procure ganja. They obtained 20 kg of the contraband from Arjun of Papulur, Odisha.The payment for the ganja was made through PhonePe to Vijay alias Kabheer Singh of Tumkur, who is suspected to be the receiver in the network. After collecting the contraband, the two men began their return journey to Karnataka on a motorcycle. However, after the motorcycle developed a mechanical problem, they stayed in Bhadrachalam. Acting on information about their movement, the police mounted surveillance and intercepted the motorcycle at Sarapaka village, recovering the 20 kg of ganja from their possession. The investigation found that Naveen Kumar became involved in ganja transportation due to financial difficulties and was allegedly operating under the guidance of Vijay alias Kabheer Singh. Police have identified Vijay alias Kabheer Singh, a resident of Shira in Tumkur district, as the receiver, and Arjun of Papulur, Odisha, as the supplier. Both are currently absconding. Besides the ganja, police seized a motorcycle and two mobile phones. Further investigation is under way to trace the absconding accused and establish the complete inter-State procurement, transportation and distribution network, the police said.
