TVTV NewsThe ChaseEXCLUSIVE: The Chase has been a staple on screens for years14:03, 08 Sep 2026The Chase star Paul Sinha has opened up about the “one big" change that's been made to the beloved quiz show since it started.‌The ITV programme debuted on screens in 2009, and the format has since spread worldwide, with countries like Australia, Germany, and Spain airing their own versions.‌Hosted by Bradley Walsh, it sees four contestants work together to answer general knowledge questions in a bid to win a cash prize while a chaser tries to catch them and knock them out of the game.‌And with a new series currently airing on screens, chaser Paul - also known as The Sinnerman - has spoken about whether a format change could be in the cards, after nearly two decades on air.“We’ve not altered the format of the Chase. One thing that is nice about the Chase is we don’t alter the gameplay to keep the audience on their toes,” Paul told Reach.‌However, Paul then went on to share the one big change that’s been made to the programme since it started. Paul revealed: “The one big difference is if you are on zero and you get pushed back now, your target score goes up by one. We didn’t have that in series one.”He continued: “But that is it really, that’s the one tactical change that we’ve made since we started. The format is exactly the same; we don’t have The Chase changing the formula.”‌Paul also teased what fans can expect from the new series of The Chase, saying: “I remember being very dramatic in the last two or three weeks [of filming], with a lot of spectacular results for both the chasers and the teams.Paul also revealed: “There is an episode that I recorded, that I think, is the single best episode of The Chase we’ve ever had.” However, he noted that he expects some backlash.Article continues below"But maybe when it comes out everyone will go ‘no, you’re just biased because you’re in it.
