A brand new global quiz show premiered on Thursday, with Bradley Walsh at the helm21:42, 16 Jul 2026Updated 21:42, 16 Jul 2026The new spin-off of The Chase has left viewers unimpressed. The Chase Around the World is a six-part global quiz adventure that sees Bradley Walsh and the Chasers escape the studio and challenge contestants on an epic road trip around the world.Six pairs are setting off on an epic chase around some of the world's most incredible cities in a bid to win £100,000.The first episode aired on ITV1 on Thursday (July 16), and introduced viewers to the contestants. They include mother and daughter Nicola and Maddie, sisters Kati and Amy, newly engaged couple Dilan and Emily, father and son David and Steven, friends Matt and Cerys, and father and daughter Ashwin and Nikita. The pairs began their journey in Rome, and were joined by the Beast and the Governess, who had set a series of quiz questions, puzzles and cryptic clues for the teams to solve in order to navigate their way across the city and find Bradley at the finish line.Their route took them to some of Rome's iconic landmarks, such as the Colosseum, the Trevi fountain and the Spanish Steps. The teams had to answer questions correctly to complete the course, with wrong answers costing them time. The competition was fierce as all the teams tried to avoid finishing last, because if they did, they would have to beat the Beast and the Governess in a head-to-head showdown in order to remain in the game. However, viewers were quick to issue complaints, with one X (formerly Twitter) user writing: "It's a no from me."Another added: "Not sure about this #chasearoundtheworld programme. The attraction of #thechase or #beatthechasers is that you can play along at home. Whilst you can do that in this too there's too much time in between questions and why would I wanna watch people running around Rome."A third said: "Making them backtrack to the last location if they've gone to the wrong one is - frankly - f****** needlessly stupid #TheChaseAroundTheWorld. Will stick to the original Chase and Race Across the World separately thanks."Someone else commented: "This is so slow and as soon as the woman started crying over the first wrong answer then that's me out... had high hopes too but it just doesn't work!"A fifth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: "Not digging this at all. I'll go another 10 minutes and gonna bin it off if it don't get better," while another shared: "I LOVE The Chase. But THIS is f****** abysmal. It's not even attempting to copy two BBC shows. And it's staged."Meanwhile, others found themselves enjoying the new format, with one person writing: "I know it's just started but I'm already loving it."Another added: "This looks good. Looking forward to this tonight," while a third said: "I just finished watching and obviously lots will be starting so I won't spoil it. It was different, fun and still nail biting! Really enjoyed that!!"After a tiring journey across Rome, it was father and daughter duo Ashwin and Nikita who made it to Bradley last, after making several detours earlier in the day.Article continues belowHowever, all was not lost, as the former Family Chase competitors managed to beat Mark Labbett and Anne Hegerty in a timed race, meaning they could join the rest of the pairs in the next city, Barcelona. The Chase Around the World is available to stream on ITVX
