Insider Brief
Quantinuum has finalized a $100 million CHIPS and Science Act funding agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce to support trapped-ion quantum computing R&D and domestic manufacturing.
The funding will support next-generation ion traps and electronics, including work with GlobalFoundries on 300mm wafer fabrication and Monarch Quantum on lasers and optical components.
The program aims to strengthen Quantinuum’s U.S. supply chain and support the scaling of large-scale, fault-tolerant trapped-ion quantum computers.
