Quantinuum signed a letter of intent with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s CHIPS Research and Development Office for proposed federal funding aimed at advancing large-scale, fault-tolerant trapped-ion quantum computers and strengthening domestic quantum manufacturing capabilities.
The initiative focuses on overcoming technical bottlenecks, expanding U.S.-based semiconductor and photonics supply chains, and supporting commercialization pathways for quantum computing and related frontier technologies.
GlobalFoundries and Monarch Quantum are expected to support the effort through semiconductor, advanced packaging, and integrated photonics technologies intended to accelerate Quantinuum’s roadmap toward utility-scale quantum systems.
