CPI(M) state secretary P. Shanmugam on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) said his party would not participate in second meeting of post-poll allies convened by the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on September 9.Speaking to The Hindu, he said his party’s outside support to the ruling party in the Assembly would continue. Mr. Shanmugam said there is a proposal to evolve a common-minimum-programme by the TVK and its allies and the CPI(M) would share its views.In a statement, CPI State secretary M. Veerapandian said his party would not participate in the meeting, but would continue to offer outside support to the TVK.Last week, Ministers N. Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, C.T.R Nirmal Kumar and Rajmohan visited the offices of the CPI and CPI(M) inviting them to participate in the meeting of the parties supporting the TVK.
