Three matches are nowhere near enough to make definitive judgements about a Premier League season. But they are enough to make you question a few of your own predictions.

I went into the new campaign thinking Newcastle could struggle after Eddie Howe’s departure, along with those of a number of club stalwarts, while Tottenham looked like one of the teams capable of bouncing back from a miserable 2025/26.

Three games later, I’m not quite so sure.
