Ukraine’s international reserves fell by 5.0% in August 2026, down to $48.66 billion as of September 1
Ukrinform reports this, citing the National Bank of Ukraine.
“Ukraine’s international reserves stood at $48,662.2 million as of September 1, 2026, according to preliminary data. They decreased by 5.0% in August. This decline was driven by a reduction in international financial assistance, while foreign exchange interventions remained at a level close to that of July,” the statement said.
Overall, several factors shaped the dynamics of international reserves in August 2026.
First, the NBU sold $4.85 billion on the foreign exchange market in August and purchased $0.5 million. Net foreign exchange sales amounted to $4.85 billion.
