The industry-leading EV maker Tesla unveiled its new Cybercab autonomous, steering wheel-less robotaxi in Austin, Texas on September 3 to the tune of much media buzz. However, much of the buzz occurred in the lead-up to the event. The event itself mainly solicited the sound of heads being scratched. Among the questions being asked: How many, if any, fleet managers will stock their robotaxi fleets with Cybercabs?

Tesla is indeed soliciting outside interest in the Cybercab from other robotaxi fleets. A contact form on the company’s website leads with the headline, “Help Us Build Our Robotaxi Network,” offering a list of four options:
