Hawks cocaine theft accused due in Port Shepstone court for bail bid.
A 49-year-old man accused of involvement in the alleged theft of a cocaine consignment from Hawks premises is expected to apply for bail in the Port Shepstone Magistrate's Court, KwaZulu-Natal.
Lucas Legabe is scheduled to appear in court on September 8, 2026, for a formal bail application after his arrest by the Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit on August 7.
Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said Legabe's arrest was in connection to the alleged theft of a drug consignment in Port Shepstone.
The case relates to the theft of a 541kg cocaine consignment, valued at about R200 million, which was seized in June 2021 after Hawks investigators were called to inspect a container at the CHC container depot in Isipingo that was initially suspected of containing 27kg of drugs.
