The Eiffel Tower reopened Tuesday, an AFP reporter said, after staff walked out over the removal of women colleagues during a visit by a Hindu religious group that later apologised. Shortly before 9:30am on Tuesday, visitors were passing through security checkpoints at the foot of the tower, the AFP journalist said. On its website, the Eiffel Tower said the iconic monument was "open today". Staff at the Eiffel Tower in Paris went on strike on Monday, "shocked" by the exclusion of female employees during a private visit by a Hindu delegation days earlier, according to staff and management.
