Lindsay Clancy, a 36-year-old former labour and delivery nurse from Massachusetts, United States, became the centre of one of the country’s most closely watched criminal cases after she killed her three young children in January 2023.

PUNCH Online had reported that Clancy admitted to the killings but maintained that she was not criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, a rare and severe mental illness that can occur after childbirth. Her trial ended in a mistrial on 4 September 2026 after a 12-member jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict.

Lindsay Marie Clancy (née Musgrove) was born in 1990 in Wallingford, Connecticut. She studied at Quinnipiac University, trained as a nurse and worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she cared for women during childbirth.

She married Patrick Clancy in 2016. The couple settled in Duxbury, Massachusetts, and had three children: Cora, born in December 2017; Dawson, born in September 2019; and Callan, born on 26 May 2022.
