Nvidia has agreed to buy AI developer platform Hugging Face for $12.9 billion (£9.5bn), in a move designed to give the platform more resources with which to expand.

The acquisition also gives Nvidia access to a large AI developer community, as it seeks to move increasingly into software.

Hugging Face was founded in 2016 in New York City by French entrepreneurs Clément Delangue, Julien Chaumond, and Thomas Wolf, initially to develop a chatbot app aimed at teenagers.
